Today we were lucky enough to go to the floor reserved for foreign patients (the 12th, I think). And let me say that you can only gain access to it if you are the patient or family member. They WILL stop you and make you leave ASAP if you do not belong! :)
We met a couple from New Jersey and she was the one being treated. This is their second trip to Tianjin and they feel she has greatly benefited from the treatments and care received at this hospital.
We also met a woman named Ruth Lycke who’s the head of a program called International Health. It’s a program that advocates destination health care for stroke and neurological rehabilitation. They basically help bring people to this hospital for intensive rehab care. If you’re interested in researching this, the website is www.intlhealth.net.
It’s interesting to note that the cost for a three month rehab treatment program here is around US $30,000, and the patient is allowed to bring one family member. Daily treatments are around the clock, meaning they receive acupuncture twice a day along with Tuina massage, speech and physical therapy.
We also got to check out the herbal pharmacy. Oh…how good it smelled! We watched them package raw herbal prescriptions and went behind the scenes to see how they decoct mass quantities of herbs.

I think this is really awesome!
Hopefully I’ll get to blog some more tomorrow! Good night MN!

Woah, sooo cool!! It sounds like they are keeping you busy, busy, busy! The pics of the Great Wall are amazing. I can’t wait to see more!
Very cool. In taking cultural displays would be a great show. Does sound like they are keeping you guys n gals on your toes there. I would have loved to have seen the herbal pharmacy. Pretty spendy treatment there also but if it works where others fail then more power to the ancient ways of medicine!!!
